This review involves and auto recall, so I cannot speak to the general maintenance and service which is paid.
Last week, I received a notice in the mail that there was an open recall still on my car. The notice indicated that there was risk of serious injury or death if this recall was not performed.
During our last service visit something hot or corrosive was spilled near the stick shift of our BMW and the border around it is melted. We brought it to the attention of the service manager who came out, looked at it and said none of his employees had any liquids in the car and then he gave us a tissue to wipe it but there was nothing to wipe, as the damage was already done. The plastic around the stick shift is melted due to someone's carelessness while fixing our car. This is the second time we've experienced problems with work done by Automaster's service dept and my husband will never bring our BMW to this place again. >>>>>Regardless of what the dealer's response to my complaint is, the fact of the matter is that the damage to the interior of our car was NOT there when we brought it in for repair. However the damage was done, it was done by someone at Automaster and they do not care to admit it or fix their error. Also, the car is not listed under my name, so I don't know how Automaster "reviewed the work" they performed on my car.
I drive a Honda Fit, which was equipped with the Takata airbag inflator. The recall on this item went out in May of 2016. Since that time, I have brought my car in three times. Each time I received a receipt that stated that my car was checked for open recalls.
I should start out by saying Parts and Scheduling departments are great people - always friendly and helpful, and I have no experience with sales, nor the Mercedes or Honda aspects of the business. BMW's quality of mechanics, though, has taken a nose dive in recent years. We've had several BMWs that we've had serviced here, and they just can't seem to get it right. They've broken things and not mentioned it to us that they should be replaced. They left one of the hoses of our fuel filter, which they also kinked, improperly secured because they broke the quick clip and left it without mentioning anything, and they failed to install half of the screws that secure the protective plastic in place. They mounted a tire on the wrong rim (staggered fitment set - narrower tire on wider rim luckily noticed by us before use. They had the nerve to tell us they wouldn't charge us for THEIR mistake), and they failed to check our brake lines during an inspection. Luckily when we had to replace the leaking fuel filter, we noticed the condition of the brake lines - the vehicle should never have passed inspection with the lines as corroded as they were. Super dangerous. I wouldn't trust the BMW Service here for anything, and it's only a matter of time before some gets seriously injured or worse because of their carelessness!! *Edited to correct inaccurately listed parts, clarify details, and provide additional specifics.
I strongly recommend that if you have your car serviced at Automaster that you check your car for open recalls. Your safety could be at risk.
Four years ago I bought a pre-owned BMW from a private seller. My predecessor bought the car new from Automaster and always had it serviced there, so I took it there myself - first just for a once-over, but they gained my confidence so I have continued to rely on them for all my services. I admit that as a first-time BMW owner, I was fearful of what it might cost to maintain, but I have become a convert. It helps that the car itself is the best car I've ever owned, but more important is that dealing with Automaster has been an absolute pleasure. They are honest, reliable, reasonable with their labor charges, and more than competent. Ethan, in particular, has delivered impeccable service and when things are not perfect, such as a delay in a repair, he has always risen above and beyond my expectations to ease any inconvenience. It hasn't gone unnoticed, Ethan! My experience with Automaster has made me BMW-loyal. When I'm ready to replace my beloved road partner, I will undoubtedly turn to Automaster. They have earned this customer's loyalty.
I'm disappointed to have to write this review, as my past experiences here have been generally positive. However, because of a significant safety issue, I will no longer bring my car here.
I immediately brought the car in for service, at which time I spoke to a manager about this concern. Quite simply, to miss this recall once is an unfortunate mistake; to miss it three times is gross incompetence. The manager could offer no explanation for how this happened, and no assurances that they could make sure this had not and would not happen to other customers.
The process for getting a repair made for an airbag recall on my Honda was seamless and pleasant all around. The text message reminders and follow up were much appreciated and communication was excellent. Very happy with how well this went.
